The Senate went into session at 10AM to debate a 14 bill Special Order Calendar. We continue to move through mostly non-controversial legislation at this early stage of the session. I was able to pass another bill supporting Veterans in Alabama; SB269. This bill allows a private employer to establish a voluntary Veterans’ preference employment policy, protecting a private business from potentially violating a local or state equal employment opportunity law.
The Senate adjourned at 4 PM and will reconvene on Tuesday at 2PM. I plan to attend several events in the Senate District over the weekend including tonight’s Gala at the Huntsville Museum of Art supporting the Riley Center whose mission to support the early diagnosis and treating of children with autism. On Saturday I plan to participate in the annual Huntsville Track Club Cookie Dash 5K benefitting Hampton Cove Middle School and Hampton Cove Elementary School.
